Father of child who broke Teletubby sculpture refuses gifts and commends on reasonable statement issued by company

24th May 2022 – (Hong Kong) It was reported on social media that when a woman took her 5-year-old boy to visit a KKplus store in Langham Place displaying all kinds of rare toys, the child leaned his back against a Teletubby sculpture retailing at HK$52,800, causing the toy to fall to the ground and broke.  The parents finally paid HK$32,600 as compensation, and the incident caused heated discussions among netizens. Kidsland International Holdings Limited, the parent company of the toy store eventually expressed its sincere apology to the child’s family and has given a full refund.

The father of the child, Mr.Cheng pointed out that the content of the statement issued by the company was reasonable, and he negotiated with the store manager over the phone. The other party was friendly and showed remorse. He promised to return the money, but he refused to accept any gifts from the store.
