25th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) A school bus accident on Hammer Hill Road, Wong Tai Sin, has claimed the life of a 47-year-old man, leaving behind his two young children in the care of their mother who had previously divorced the victim. The incident occurred yesterday evening as the driver, Mr. Choi, was exiting the car park of the Grand View Garden estate.

Mr. Choi, who was in the process of swiping his card to exit the car park, tragically fell from the bus as it began to move forward, subsequently being run over by the vehicle. Initially conscious upon being rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, his condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to his death later that evening at 9.39pm.

The gravity of the situation extends beyond the immediate loss, touching the lives of Mr. Choi’s children who resided with him at Peony House in So Uk Estate, Sham Shui Po. Mr. Choi had maintained a communicative relationship with his ex-wife, particularly concerning their children’s wellbeing.

Following the accident, Mr. Choi’s daughter contacted her mother, who has since returned to Hong Kong from the Mainland to support her grieving children.

The family is now faced with the challenge of arranging long-term care for the children, with plans to consult Mr. Choi’s parents about future arrangements.
