Famous Koon Nam Wah Bridal neon signages in Yau Ma Tei to be dismantled tomorrow

16th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) Koon Nam Wah  Bridal announced today (16th) that starting tomorrow, two neon signboards will be dismantled. The lights will be turned off at 11pm this evening, which will be the last night. The person in charge of Koon Nam Wah pointed out that the Buildings Department recently issued an “ultimatum” to the shop, so it was forced to demolish the signages. The store also contacted the M+ Museum to take in the signboard, but no response was received. Therefore, after the neon signboard was removed, it will be disposed of in the landfill.

Located on Kansu Street in Yau Ma Tei, Koon Nam Wah is a bridal shop selling couture wedding dresses, bridal gowns and evening gowns for more than 70 years. Its huge old neon sign is a popular spot and landmark for tourists and locals to take pictures. However, after 16th August, it will bid farewell to Hong Kong people. Many locals went to take last pictures with the signages this evening.
