Family attack leaves man dead at Fortune Estate in Cheung Sha Wan, 3 arrested for manslaughter and obstruction

11th July 2024 – (Hong Kong) A man was discovered deceased on Monday (8th) in his residence at Fortune Estate in Cheung Sha Wan, Hong Kong. According to sources, police suspect that the victim was subjected to an assault by his own family members.

Today, the police have pressed charges against three individuals in relation to a case involving the death of the man. The charges include one count of manslaughter against a man and one count of perverting the course of public justice against two women, who are jointly charged. The incident was reported to the police by a woman on July 8, stating that her husband was found collapsed inside a unit at Fook Ming House, Fortune Estate. Upon arrival, ambulance personnel discovered the 44-year-old man lying in the living room and swiftly transported him to Caritas Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead at 2.25pm on the same day.

Following an investigation, the police arrested the deceased’s 22-year-old stepson, 59-year-old wife, and 33-year-old stepdaughter. Post-mortem examinations will be conducted to determine the cause of death, while the District Crime Squad of Sham Shui Po continues its active investigation. The case will be mentioned at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts today.
