31st March 2023 – (Hong Kong) As of 11.59pm on 28th March, the Department of Health has received 12 reports of adverse events following COVID-19 vaccination, but no deaths were reported within 14 days of vaccination. Over 20.74 million doses of vaccine have been administered, with 6.91 million people receiving at least one dose. The DH received 8,116 reports of adverse events, accounting for 0.04% of all vaccine doses administered. None of the death cases reported were associated with vaccination.

The Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following COVID-19 Immunisation has concluded that 117 death cases were not related to vaccination, while the causal relationship with vaccination for two cases could not be established, and one case was not associated with vaccination. No unusual patterns have been identified, and the committee will continue to monitor the situation and collect data.

The Hospital Authority reported that from 1st March to 28th March, 2023, the ratio of death cases was 48.5 cases per 100,000 people, similar to the average ratio from 2018 to 2020. The ratio of death cases with acute stroke or acute myocardial infarction was lower than the average from 2018 to 2020, and the ratio of miscarriage cases was also lower than the average. Based on statistical analysis, there is no evidence that vaccination increases the risk of death or miscarriage. The relevant statistics will be uploaded to the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme website.
