9th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) The government announced today (9th) that the number of COVID-19 cases in a single day in recent days is still nearly 4,000. Taking into account the current development of the epidemic, the authorities have decided to maintain the current social distancing measures in the next 14-day cycle and will not relax them for the time being. The measures will be gazetted in accordance with the requirements of the Public Health Emergency Regulations under the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance to extend the existing social distancing measures. The effective period is from the 11th to the 24th of this month.

The government especially reminds the person in charge of the premises that the “red code” and “amber code” will be added to the “vaccine pass” effective today to identify those who have a higher risk of infection with COVID-19.

Those who are diagnosed will be classified as “red code” persons, while those who arrive in Hong Kong from overseas regions or Taiwan will be classified as “amber code” persons, and their “vaccine pass” will be changed to red or amber accordingly. The person in charge of the premises must refuse the relevant persons to enter the relevant premises in accordance with the relevant regulations, and make practical arrangements to ensure that employees with “red code” are not allowed to enter the premises.

If a person with “amber code” works in the scheduled premises, the person in charge of the premises must ensure that the relevant staff member strictly follows the epidemic prevention measures, including wearing masks. In addition, persons in charge of scheduled premises who are required to use the “QR Code Verification Scanner” should update their scanners to version 4.4.0 or above as soon as possible before 12th August and ensure that the relevant mobile devices are connected online at the scheduled premises no later than 23rd August.
