Ex-Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Michael Sze passes away at 77


19th May 2022 – (Hong Kong) According to sources, Michael Sze Cho-cheung, who served as the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs and the Secretary for Civil Service before the handover of Hong Kong, passed away this morning at the age of 77. According to sources, Tze started fighting cancer in 2003 and was in critical condition this week. His family members around him were mentally prepared, and his wife and daughter were also there when he passed away.

Sze has a daughter named Karen, who is a psychiatrist. His wife, May Mok, was a former teacher at Wah Yan College, Hong Kong teaching EnglishGeography and Religious Studies.

Michael Sze Cho-cheung is a former Hong Kong government official. He has held various government positions including Secretary for Constitutional Affairs from 1991 to 1994 and Secretary for the Civil Service from 1994 to 1996. He was Executive Director of the Trade Development Council (DTC) from 1996 to 2004 and chairman of the Operations Review Committee of the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) until 2014.

Sze had also held directorships in various companies, including the Lee Kum Kee CompanySwire Pacific Limited, Yangtzekiang Carment Limited and YGM Trading Limited.
