14th February 2020 – (Hong Kong) A spokesperson for HSBC Bank confirmed yesterday that family member of one their employees was diagnosed with novel coronavirus. The staff was in close contact with the family member and he is currently being quarantined by the government.
The employee has not contacted any customer for the past 14 days and has been quarantined at home since 12th February. Previously, the employee worked on the 14th floor of the HSBC Central Headquarters Building (30th to 31st January and 3rd February) and the second floor of the Tseung Kwan O Office (4th – 11th February). These two floors were not used for customer service. The employee’s seat, nearby spaces and public spaces such as pantry have been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
The bank emphasized that it attaches great importance to the daily cleaning and sanitation of facilities, and the entire office building will continue to be cleaned regularly. For security reasons, the bank is contacting employees of family members who may have close contact with the employee and they have been asked to be isolated at home for 14 days. The bank pointed out that from time to time employees are urged to pay attention to personal hygiene. If they are unwell, they should stay at home or seek medical treatment immediately. All Hong Kong employees can stay home and work when feasible.
