Employee at Cathay Pacific Catering Services department infected with COVID-19, total cases reach 5


3rd August 2020 – (Hong Kong) An employee from the Cathay Pacific Catering Services department was preliminarily diagnosed with COVID-19. So far, at least 5 people have been infected. The employee was preliminarily diagnosed on the evening of last Saturday (1st). The last date of work was last Tuesday (28th). He had stayed in the workplace for about 1.5 hours. The company has notified and arranged all colleagues who were in close contact with the infected employee to undergo virus testing and immediately be quarantined, and the employee’s workplace has also undergone a thorough deep cleaning and disinfection procedure.

An internal notice revealed that Cathay Pacific Catering Service Limited has learned that an employee of the Catering Department has tested positive in preliminary diagnosis. The company stated that it would continue to closely monitor the progress of the case and remind employees to wear masks in all areas of the company, including staff canteens and offices. It also stated that employees should not go to work if they develop any related symptoms, even if they do not have a fever. They should go to the doctor and receive virus testing as soon as possible. Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal had earlier confirmed that an employee of an outsourced company and an employee of the Information Technology Department tested positive. Last week, two more employees who were responsible for handling cargo aircraft export documents at Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal were also infected.
