25th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong singer Eason Chan’s highly anticipated concert tour, “Fear and Dreams,” faced a disappointing turn of events as the singer fell ill, forcing the cancellation of his 101st performance in Hangzhou this evening.

As the clock approached 7pm, a packed audience eagerly awaited the start of the concert at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium. However, Eason Chan appeared on stage with tear-filled eyes and a hoarse voice, expressing his apologies to the disappointed fans. He explained that he had fallen sick and, following medical advice, had no choice but to rest, leading to the unfortunate cancellation of the performance.

The announcement left many fans in tears, while some shouted words of encouragement, assuring Eason Chan that his well-being was the priority. Despite the cancellation, most fans expressed their support by choosing not to seek ticket refunds, hoping for the singer’s swift recovery.

The postponed concert has been rescheduled for Monday, 27th May, and Tuesday, 28th May. Ticket holders have the option to either attend the rescheduled shows with their original tickets or request a refund. The organisers have committed to covering the expenses incurred by fans travelling from other regions. The details regarding the rescheduled performances will be announced by the event organizer, Shanghai Summit Entertainment and Culture, in due course.

During his heartfelt apology on stage, Eason Chan stated, “I apologize for disappointing all of you. Today, at 4pm, during the usual rehearsal with the band and dancers, I noticed some health issues that gradually worsened. By 6pm, I realised that I would not be able to perform tonight. I truly wanted to live up to the lyrics that say, ‘That’s just life, laughing at the helplessness of reality,’ but at this moment, I cannot. This time, it’s not a joke; it’s a genuine helplessness. Unfortunate things happen, and I have to share this bad news with you. I wanted to spend these three hours with all of you, but the doctor advised me to rest my vocal cords. Today and tomorrow’s tickets will tentatively be postponed to Monday and Tuesday, respectively, and the specific arrangements will be announced by the organisers. Once again, I sincerely apologise to everyone.”
