Drunk driver crashes BMW iX3 in Central before being arrested

9th February 2023 – (Hong Kong) At 1.50am today (9th), a BMW iX3 electric car was driving uphill on Garden Road in the Central District. When it turned into Robinson Road, it lost control and crashed into the 4m traffic railings on the roadside and an electrical box. The front of the car was damaged, the license plate fell to the ground.

The male driver (39 years old) was not injured. A passerby witnessed the accident and reported the case to the police.

Officers conducted a breathalyser on the driver and recorded a reading exceeding the standard of 47 micrograms. The driver was arrested on suspicion of “drink driving”. After the accident, the street lights were switched off due to the damage of the electrical box on the road section involved.
