8th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) In a freak accident, a large tree collapsed on a slope in Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui at 2.29pm today. The tree fell across two lanes of the opposite side of the park’s Haiphong Road, crushing a passing private Bentley vehicle and trapping the driver inside. Firefighters rushed to the scene to rescue the 35-year-old driver, who was conscious but trapped inside the car. The rescue operation took about 20 minutes and involved using tools to saw the tree and free the driver from the wreckage. The driver was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the fallen tree was a large one, located on a slope outside the perimeter of Kowloon Park, and was about two meters above the ground. The tree trunk was approximately half a meter in diameter, and it had dense foliage.
