Driver goes missing after crashing car in Central, one man detained


19th March 2023 – (Hong Kong) A traffic accident occurred in the Central District this morning (19th) at 6.19am. A privately-owned vehicle was traveling along Des Voeux Road towards Wan Chai direction when it collided with and demolished a 3-meter iron fence opposite to the Court of Final Appeal. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained during the incident. Upon arriving at the scene for investigation, authorities discovered that the driver was initially missing, and three men who claimed to be passengers were found inside the vehicle. The driver responsible for the accident has yet to be identified.

Eyewitnesses stated that the private car was carrying four men at the time of the accident, and the male driver fled the scene afterwards. During the investigation, one man returned and claimed to be the driver of the vehicle. Authorities conducted a breathalyser test on the four individuals present, and one of them was found to have exceeded the legal alcohol limit. The individual has been detained for further investigation, and it remains uncertain whether the accident involved drink driving.
