3rd October 2023 – (Hong Kong) Excitement filled the air as Dino Park, the first dinosaur-themed outdoor playground in Hong Kong, officially opened its doors to the public on 1st October. The park, located in Sha Tin’s New Town Plaza, attracted over 500 eager citizens who patiently lined up outside for their turn to enter. Throughout the day, a staggering total of nearly 10,000 visitors, predominantly young families taking advantage of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, enjoyed the park’s thrilling attractions and posed for memorable photos.
Spanning over 35,000 square feet, Dino Park is a marvel of design and construction, with an investment of millions of dollars. It offers an array of 14 play facilities tailored to children between the ages of 2 and 12. However, the star of the show is an awe-inspiring, 26-meter-long and 7-meter-high giant dinosaur structure composed of rope nets, slides, and climbing frames. This colossal dinosaur combination attracts the attention of visitors with its sheer size and promises an unforgettable play experience. Additionally, the park features other exciting attractions, including an aerial zipline, an adventurous rope course, and dynamic swings.
The park’s design concept draws inspiration from the American Academy of Paediatrics’ understanding of children’s fascination with dinosaurs. By incorporating this theme, Dino Park aims to provide children with an engaging environment to explore their own abilities, discover their hidden potentials, and cultivate their sensitivity to external stimuli, as well as enhance their coordination and balance. The park’s facilities are specifically designed to support the growth and development of children’s physical abilities, catering to their needs from ages 2 to 12.
Visitors to Dino Park can also enjoy various entertaining performances and workshops. The park hosts lively dinosaur dance shows, offers dinosaur-themed whirligig rides, and organizes dinosaur exploration workshops, providing an immersive experience that captivates both children and adults alike. Representatives from Sun Hung Kai Properties’ Leasing Department expressed their hopes that the opening of Dino Park would increase the appeal of the shopping mall to young families, boost foot traffic and business revenue, and attract visitors from outside the area.
Entrance to Dino Park is free, and no prior booking is required. Families and children can simply arrive at the park and spend a fun-filled day exploring the exciting world of dinosaurs. The park’s opening hours are from 7am to 10pm, allowing ample time for families to create lasting memories and enjoy the various attractions at their own pace.
