4th May 2026 – (Los Angeles) “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has stormed to the top of the North American box office, debuting with an estimated 77 million US dollars over its opening weekend, according to figures released by Comscore.
The sequel also performed strongly overseas, adding 156.6 million dollars from international markets to deliver a global launch total of 233.6 million dollars.
Released by 20th Century Studios, the film reunites director David Frankel with the principal cast from the 2006 original. Nearly two decades after first bringing the characters to life, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprise their roles, returning audiences to the high‑fashion world of Runway magazine in New York City.
Critical reception has been broadly favourable. Review aggregation site Rotten Tomatoes reports a 77 per cent approval rating based on more than 220 critiques, while audiences surveyed by CinemaScore awarded the film an “A‑” grade.
Elsewhere at the box office, Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic “Michael” fell to second place in its second weekend, taking 54 million dollars. The film has now accumulated 183.8 million dollars domestically and 423.9 million dollars worldwide.
Completing the top three, Universal and Illumination’s animated feature “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” added 12.1 million dollars in its fifth weekend, lifting its North American total to 402.7 million dollars.
