Dead Facebook users could outnumber the living by 2069 according to University of Oxford

5th May 2019 (Oxford) According to a recent research from University of Oxford, the dead users could surpass the living on Facebook by 2069. The number of dead users is on the rise and in 2012, a total of 30 million deceased users was recorded.

The research team has predicted that the number of dead users could reach at least 1.4 billion or potentially as high as 4.9 billion by the end of the century. The acquisition of new users has slowed down in the past few years and soon, Facebook will become a digital cemetery. The platform will become a digital obituary in future for friends to preserve memories, pictures and relationships.
