14th September 2022 – (Hong Kong) Crostini, an Italian pastry shop ad restaurant, posted on its Facebook page at around 10pm yesterday (13th) that due to due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the management decided that to close down all its shops and restaurants in IFC, Times Square, Crostini Bakery & Cafe in KCC, Plaza Hollywood, Kwun Tong Plaza, Kolour in Tsuen Wan, Paradise Mall in Pak Sha Wan etc on 13th September.
As soon as the news broke, many netizens and customers commented and criticised the move. Customers have bought vouchers and coupons in advance to exchange for cookies/pasta/cakes are aggrieved and furious. More than 300 customers have set up a WhatsApp group to demand Crostini to respond on the compensation arrangement.
A few point out that the incident is suspected of violating the Trade Descriptions Ordinance and will be investigated through different channels. Comments have been restricted on Crostini’s facebook page since the announcement.
