2nd April 2023 – (Hong Kong) On 1st and 2nd April, the U.K.’s famous electronic music festival, Creamfields, took place at Central Harbourfront Event Space. The festival, which attracts thousands of music lovers, featured some of the biggest names in the electronic dance music scene. However, amidst the celebrations, law enforcement officers had to implement crowd control measures in the surrounding areas, including Tamar Park, based on risk assessments.
During the event, police officers in Central District intercepted a suspicious local man around 8.53pm on 1st April. The officers found a small amount of suspected cannabis on the man, with an estimated street value of HK$355. Following initial investigations, the 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drug possession. However, he was later released on bail and is expected to report to the authorities in early May.
The incident highlights the ongoing challenge faced by police in Hong Kong to tackle drug use at music festivals and other large-scale events. Despite the implementation of stringent security measures, drug use remains a concern, and officers are continuously working to prevent such activities.
