10th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) Four Macao residents have been arrested for smuggling and selling methamphetamine from Hong Kong to Macao. The suspects, aged between 41 and 51, all tested positive for methamphetamine in their urine tests and were found to be in possession of 9.5 grams of the drug, worth about HK$31,000 on the black market. They have been charged with the illegal sale and consumption of narcotics and psychotropic substances, possession of prohibited weapons, among other charges, and have been transferred to the local prosecutor’s office.

According to the investigation, members of a drug trafficking group smuggled drugs from Hong Kong to Macau for sale. One of the suspects, a 51-year-old man from Macao, entered the local area early on the morning of the 9th and repeatedly entered and exited a unit in a building in the San Kio district of Macao. Personnel intercepted him and found 12 small packs of a total of 7.7 grams of methamphetamine, electronic detonators, drug paraphernalia, and packaging tools in the unit, as well as a 16-centimetre axe blade knife. They also found HK$22,000 in suspected drug money on him and a drug user in the unit. The man claimed to sell each small pack for MOP 1,500. It is believed that the suspect has been selling drugs in Macau for about a month and a half.

One of the suspects arrested was a male buyer of the drugs. Personnel intercepted him in a parking lot of a casino in the Zona de Aterros do Porto Exterior that night and found three packs of methamphetamine weighing a total of 1.8 grams on him. Drug paraphernalia was found in his unit in the Taipa district of Macao, where a female drug user was also present. The male suspect admitted to buying drugs from members of the drug trafficking group, and the female suspect admitted to buying drugs and using them with him in the unit.
