COVID-19 infected Philippine ship crew member and 7 others taken away by health officials from Panda Hotel in Tsuen Wan


10th July 2020 – (Hong Kong) The COVID-19 in Hong Kong has entered its third wave and the number of confirmed cases has recorded double-digit growth in recent days. A Philippine ship crew member who was exempted from quarantine was diagnosed with an infection. Panda Hotel in Tsuen Wan confirmed that the crew member had stayed at the hotel on the 7th of this month. The hotel was notified by the Department of Health the next day that the department took 7 crew members who stayed at the hotel with him.

The hotel immediately cleaned and disinfected the lobby, corridors, restaurants and other locations. Panda Hotel stated that the Filipino person who was an imported case checked into the hotel for two nights this week. The hotel received a notice from the Department of Health on the morning of the 8th of this month.

The hotel emphasised that in order to protect the safety of employees, the hotel has arranged several employees who have been in contact with the guest to perform a quick virus test yesterday, and also said that it is inconvenient to disclose the current number of occupants based on protecting the privacy of the guests.
