10th July 2024 – (Hong Kong) TVB has made a recent announcement regarding the “2024 Hong Kong Miss” pageant, revealing the initial group of 25 contestants and launching an online voting system to finalise the list of participants.

However, the competition has not been without its fair share of controversies. Following the revelations about former girl group member Ellyn Ngai and dance teacher Kelly Kwok, who concealed their existing contracts, another contestant, Savannah Chen from Jiangmen, has now come under scrutiny for suspected involvement in bribery.

Savannah Chen, hailing from Jiangmen and identifying herself as a sustainable development consultant, has attracted attention due to a grand display in her hometown. Observant netizens noticed a large billboard prominently featuring Savannah’s official photos, along with the logos of and the “2024 Hong Kong Miss” competition. The billboard also made a striking offer: “Customers who patronize the Seafood Congee City and successfully vote will receive a complimentary serving of seafood. This event runs from 5th to 10th July, and all rights are reserved by Seafood Congee City.” These circumstances have raised doubts about whether Savannah Chen’s campaign involves bribery.

The prospect of receiving free seafood through voting has piqued the curiosity of many netizens, leading to speculation about Savannah’s background. Some jokingly suggest she may be the daughter of the restaurant’s owner or even the first representative from Jiangmen to participate in the Miss Hong Kong pageant.
