‘Contemporary Curated: Asia | JAY CHOU x SOTHEBY’S’ exhibition at K11 MUSEA from 12th June

30th May 2021 – (Hong Kong) The 42-year-old Mandopop singer Jay Chou in Taiwan was recently certified by Sotheby’s as a “Legend of Music and Art Collector” and served as the curator of ‘Contemporary Curated: Asia | JAY CHOU x SOTHEBY’S’.

The latest promotional video was uploaded on 28th May by Sotheby’s. In addition to Jay Chou’s large collection of precious art collections, he also spoke about his music influence, wines and his classical piano training since he was young.

According to Sotheby’s, the reigning “King of Mandopop” is well known for incorporating elements of fine art, poetry, classical styles into his work – engineering compelling convergences of art and music, connecting with audiences across multiple generations. Uniting entertainment and fine art, this much-anticipated event marks the inaugural edition of Sotheby’s celebrated CONTEMPORARY CURATED: ASIA, an auction series that will feature exceptional works by blue-chip artists and rising stars handpicked by Jay to be offered in a highly anticipated evening sale on 18th June, followed by an online day sale from 10th – 22nd June.

As eminent curator of CONTEMPORARY CURATED: ASIA, Jay Chou will challenge the traditional way art and auctions are understood. His vision brings together a distinguished assemblage of exceptional works, to be offered in two events: an evening sale and an online day sale. The evening sale is led by Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Untitled from 1985, an iconic work that was featured on the cover of The New York TimesMagazine in 1985. Highlighting the auction’s role as a vehicle to bring together entertainment and fine art, Jay Chou has selected three sets of bespoke concert costumes worn during “The Invincible” world tour. These costumes will be sold to benefit charity.

The exhibition will be held at K11 ATELIER and K11 MUSEA Hong Kong from 12th to 18th June.
