Construction worker at CUHK in Sha Tin dies of suspected heatstroke

3rd June 2023 – (Hong Kong) A heat stress warning was issued at 1pm today due to the high temperatures and humidity in Hong Kong. However, at around 2pm, the authorities received a report that a 66-year-old construction worker surnamed Ip had collapsed and lost consciousness while repairing aluminium windows on the 3rd floor of a building at CUHK New Asia College Plaza in Sha Tin.

Rescue workers rushed to the scene and transported Ip to Prince Wales Hospital, but unfortunately, he was later pronounced dead. The cause of his death is pending autopsy results, and the authorities are investigating the incident.
