Collision between bus and minibus in To Kwa Wan results in fourteen minor injuries

1st December 2023 – (Hong Kong) In a traffic mishap that occurred in To Kwa Wan, Hong Kong, earlier this morning, a bus and a red-top minibus collided on Ma Tau Chung Road, resulting in minor injuries for at least fourteen passengers.

The incident took place at 7.24am as the bus was headed towards Hung Hom via Ma Tau Chung Road. Near Sung Wong Toi Garden, it collided with a trailing red-top minibus. The minibus’s front windscreen shattered due to the impact. Initial reports indicate that fourteen persons were injured in the accident, with all injuries classified as minor. Several rescue vehicles were dispatched to the scene to provide assistance.

The minibus, which was approximately 80% full, was en route from Lam Tin to Jordan. One of the passengers, a man surnamed Lam, offered an eyewitness account. He suggested that the bus ahead may have stopped due to an oil leak, and the minibus driver was unable to brake in time, leading to the collision. Fortunately, he added, the situation did not descend into chaos.

The incident underscores the importance of vigilant driving and regular vehicle maintenance to safeguard passenger safety. As the investigation continues, authorities will be looking into the exact causes of the collision and any possible negligence.
