Cold Weather Warning cancelled, 15°C degrees recorded by HKO, expect cloudy weather with a chance of light rain today

3rd March 2024 – (Hong Kong) The coastal areas of Guangdong are currently experiencing cold weather due to the influence of the northeast monsoon. Additionally, a broad band of clouds is covering the southern coast of China. The Hong Kong Observatory recorded a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius with a relative humidity of 78% at 8am today. The average UV index in the past hour in Tseung Kwan O was 0.0, indicating low intensity.

In a recent update, the Hong Kong Observatory lifted the Cold Weather warning at 10.15am this morning. The forecast for today indicates mainly cloudy skies with one or two light rain patches in the morning and evening. The morning hours will still be chilly, with temperatures gradually rising to a maximum of around 17 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. The winds will be moderate to fresh, blowing from the east.

Looking ahead, temperatures are expected to gradually increase over the next couple of days as the weather becomes more humid and warm. Wednesday is expected to be mainly cloudy, while temperatures may slightly decrease towards the latter part of this week.

The current northeast monsoon affecting southern China will gradually give way to a relatively humid southerly airstream on Monday and Tuesday. This change in wind direction will bring warmer temperatures during the day, accompanied by misty conditions and a few showers along the coastal areas of Guangdong. However, another surge of the northeast monsoon is anticipated to reach Guangdong on Wednesday, resulting in windier conditions and a slight drop in temperatures along the coast.
