27th June 2022 – (Hong Kong) The power cable bridge fire accident occurred in Yuen Long. After completing the temporary reinforcement works of the cable bridge, CLP Power joined forces from the Fire Services Department, the Police, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department and the Government Laboratory to inspect the site yesterday (26th), including entering the burned cable bridge area.
After discussions with relevant government departments, CLP Power will gradually remove the damaged cable bridge in the next few days in order to avoid blocking the Nullah. After energising the first batch of new 132,000-volt UHV cables on June 24, CLP Power also energised the second group of 132,000-volt cables at 4am today (27th), further enhancing the power supply capacity of the power grid and stability in the area. CLP aims to complete the energisation of the remaining set of 132,000 volt cables tomorrow (28th).
CLP Power again apologised to the affected customers.
