Classes at kindergartens and special schools suspended as Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal no. 3 still in force

1st July 2022 – (Hong Kong)  As the Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal no. 3 is now in force, classes of kindergartens, schools for children with physical disability and schools for children with intellectual disability are suspended today.

“The Social Welfare Department announces that due to the issuing of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3, members of the public are advised not to take their children or family members to centres providing after school care programmes or elderly services centres. Members of the public who have the need for the services mentioned may contact the service units concerned and confirm their operation hours in advance.”

In the past few hours, Chaba continued to track northwest, edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong and bringing occasional heavy showers and violent gusts to the Pearl River Estuary. Local winds are strong over offshore areas and on high ground. It is windier over the southern part of the territory. The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 will remain in force before noon. The need to issue the No. 8 Gale or Storm Signal thereafter depends on the development of Chaba and the changes of the local winds. The Observatory will closely monitor the movement of Chaba.
