Civilians who go on strike gather at 8 districts since noon, 10,000 people estimated to turn up at each location (Updated)


5th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) The massive anti-extradition strike organised by netizens today saw many civilians turning up at the 7 districts  i,e, Sha Tin, Tsuen Wan, Wong Tai Sin, Tai Po, Mong Kok, Tuen Mun and Admiralty from 1pm today. One more area was recently added i.e. Lantau District. Organisers from various districts estimated the turn out to be around 10,000 people. They expressed that they were not worried of any clashes with police today.

At 1:20pm today, civilians fully occupied the open-air seats outside Shatin Town Hall while the concourse area of New Town Plaza was also packed with civilians going on strike. Many civilians also braced the heat to gather at Tamar Park since 1pm today.

Many shops including Chanel, Dior, Zara and H&M in New Town Plaza were closed today.

Meanwhile at around 1.45pm today, civilians filled up MacPherson Playground and shouted ‘Carrie Lam, Step down’ and ‘Hong Kongers, add oil’.

At 2.20pm today, protesters occupied On Chee Road in Tai Po before marching towards Tai Po Police Station.
