9th December 2023 – (Tiandong) It has been reported that a circus in Tiandong County, Guangxi Province, allowed children to ride on the backs of tigers for photographs, charging 20 yuan per picture. On 9th December, the reporter learned from the Tiandong County Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism that an investigation has been conducted into the matter. It was found that the circus in question had performed without proper authorization, starting on the evening of 6th December at the Hengli Square Market East Gate in Tiandong County, and had charged fees for allowing children to take photos while riding on tiger backs.

On the afternoon of December 8th, the Tiandong County Bureau of Culture, Sports, Radio, Television, and Tourism organised personnel to investigate the circus in question. In accordance with the law and regulations, the circus was issued a “Notice of Rectification” and ordered to immediately cease its performances, with further legal action to be taken. The circus in question has since stopped its performances.
