8th April 2021 – (Hong Kong) Chung Kiu Commercial Building which is located at the junction of Sai Yeung Choi South Street and Shantung Street in Mong Kok has always been brightly lit and densely populated. However, it has suffered power outage for 3 consecutive days. At least 6 large chain stores in the building had to be closed including electrical stores, underwear store, Audio Visual store and telecommunications companies.
It is also reported that a power outage in a clinic has affected the refrigeration equipment and damaged the COVID-19 vaccine. According to the building sign, the building has at least 5 clinics, one of which is a medical institution participating in the COVID-19 vaccination program. A building manager revealed that CLP will send its employees tomorrow (9th) and he believes that the power supply can be restored.
CLP responded that the power supply in the area was normal. It received a request from a customer for help yesterday and went to the site to check and confirm that the power supply was normal. However, the building’s own equipment had problems which resulted in the power outage.
