30th December 2019 – (Hong Kong) Civil Human Rights Front’s convener, Jimmy Sham held a media conference today after police issued a letter of no objection to the New Year’s rally on 1st January. He has told the police that they should not hoist black flag and deploy tear gas rounds before the rally commences as a similar incident took place earlier this month. However, police warned that if protesters start to vandalise any shops on 1st January, they will not hesitate to arrest the perpetrators.

Protesters will gather at 2pm at Victoria Park before starting to march at 3pm. However, they may start to march earlier if there are too many participants. Meanwhile, the caption of an online poster made by CHRF was modified to say ‘Don’t forget to revenge, vandalise the city!’. Police have sought clarification from CHRF and they denied any involvement in altering their original picture.
