3rd December 2020 – (Hong Kong) Dr.Chuang Shuk-kwan from Centre for Health Protection (CHP) announced at 4.30pm this afternoon that there were 90 new COVID-19 cases (as of 12am today) consisting of 11 imported cases (i.e. an Indonesian domestic helper, Filipino domestic helper, a returnee from the Philippines, 3 returnees from Nepal, one from Russia and one from France, etc), 48 cases epidemiologically linked with previous cases and 31 local cases with unknown sources.
Out of the 48 cases epidemiologically linked with previous cases, 21 cases were linked to the dance group cluster (12 were sent from quarantine centre), 5 cases were linked to the construction site at Lohas Park (Phase 9), 2, cases were linked to Fong Shu Chuen Day Activity Centre & Hostel (HSMH), 1 case was linked to PAK LOK NURSING HOME in San Po Kong. Total cases in Hong Kong reached 6,590 today.
Dr.Chuang said that the total patients in the dance group cluster have reached almost 600 and the patients have spread the virus to every corner in the community.
1 school teacher at Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Lee Ching Dea Memorial College was infected. The school has since suspended classes. She felt unwell on 29th November and stopping going to school on 27th November.
A patient at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital who was linked to a dialysis patient infected tested positive. 1 day-shift taxi driver also tested positive today.
A family member of a cross-border truck driver from Hong Kong who was diagnosed positive in Shenzhen earlier tested positive today. He is a chef at a sushi counter at Superior Manya Japanese Restaurant on Nathan Road in Mong Kok. 9 others from the restaurant need to undergo testing as they were classified as close contacts. The restaurant has since suspended business for 14 days.
Case No. 5816 tested positive during home quarantine.
Dr.Lau Ka-hin Hospital Authority (HA) announced that as of 9am today, existing 928 confirmed patients were being treated in 21 hospitals of the Hospital Authority and community facility at AsiaWorld Expo. Among them, 21 are in critical condition, 17 are in serious condition, and 890 are in stable condition.
As at 9am today, 29 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 5,423 patients have been discharged.
At present, public hospitals have put to use 1,185 negative pressure beds with a utilisation rate of 74% and 644 negative pressure wards have been put to use with a utilisation rate of 76%.
An 82-year-old female patient tested preliminarily positive at Princess Margaret Hospital. She was admitted to the hospital for more than 2 weeks. 33 other patients who lived with the female patient in the same ward have been classified as close contacts. 14 of them have been discharged while 4 have passed away. CHP is currently tracing the patients. Before being admitted, the patient was a resident at Kwai Shing East Rhenish Care and Attention Home in New Territories.
