13th January 2021 – (Hong Kong) Dr.Chuang Shuk-kwan from Centre for Health Protection (CHP) announced at the daily 4.30pm conference today that there were 42 new COVID-19 cases (as of 12am today) consisting of all local infection. The local cases include 31 cases epidemiologically linked with previous cases and 11 local cases with unknown sources. Total cases in Hong Kong have reached 9,386. 20 more preliminary cases were recorded today. A total of 15 men and 27 women aged 5 months to 74 years old were infected today. 18 cases were tested at the community testing centres.
2 cases were linked to Central Kowloon Route – Central Tunnel under the Highways Department. A total of 20 cases were linked to this cluster.
4 new cases were linked to Tseung Kwan O – Lam Tin tunnel construction site.
1 close contact was linked to Hong Kong & Kowloon Ferry. A total of 6 employees and 3 close contacts have tested positive so far.
Compulsory testing notice has been issued for residents at Chun Wai House, Tin Ma Court in Wong Tai Sin. 1 new case in 1 unit and 3 cases in another unit on the same floor facing different direction were recorded today. Any person who had been present at Chun Wai House of Tin Ma Court, 55 Chuk Yuen Road, Wong Tai Sin, for more than two hours at any time during the period from 31st December, 2020, to 13th January, 2021 (including but not limited to visitors, residents and workers), have to undergo testing by 16th January, 2021. If persons subject to compulsory testing have previously undergone testing between 11th January and 13th January, 2021, they would be taken to have complied with the requirements set out in the compulsory testing notice.
1 new case was linked to Kam Shek Building, Ping Shek Estate.
More than 20 over residents on Reclamation Street need to undergo isolation and virus testing.
Meanwhile, Dr.Sara Ho from Hospital Authority (HA) announced that as of 9am today, existing 568 confirmed patients are being treated in 25 hospitals of the Hospital Authority and community facility at AsiaWorld Expo. Among them, 41 patients are in critical condition, 33 are in serious condition and the remaining 494 patients are in stable condition.
As at 9am today, 60 COVID-19 confirmed patients were discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 8,584 patients with confirmed infection has been discharged.
Another confirmed COVID-19 case died today (Case No.6921). The deceased patient was an 81-year-old male patient with a long-term illness from Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. He went to a private doctor for cough and was diagnosed later. He was admitted to the hospital on 6th December last year. The patient’s condition continued to deteriorate and he passed away this morning. A total of 157 patients have passed away at public hospitals.
At present, there are 678 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1,235 negative pressure beds activated.
One female patient at Kwong Wah Hospital who was admitted into the maternity ward tested positive for COVID-19. A patient who lived in the same ward has been listed as close contact. No employees have been treated as close contacts.
A nurse at Pok Oi Hospital also preliminarily tested positive yesterday. No employees have been treated as close contacts.
