CHP announces 4 new COVID-19 cases including two cases epidemiologically linked with local cases (Updated: 4pm)


18th October 2020 – (Hong Kong)   The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health has announced that as of 0.00am, today, there were four additional confirmed COVID-19, taking the number of cases to 5,242 in Hong Kong so far (comprising 5,241 confirmed cases and one probable case).
 Among the newly reported cases announced, two had a travel history during the incubation period. The remaining cases were epidemiologically linked with local cases.

Case No.5239 is a 34-year-old man with no symptoms who arrived at Hong Kong from the Netherlands. Case No.5242 is an 11-year-old girl who arrived from India and stayed at Best Western Plus Hotel Kowloon. She also had no symptoms.

The two new local cases include Case No.5240 who is a 60-year-old man and Case No.5241 who is a 49-year-old woman. Both developed symptoms and they were epidemiologically linked with local cases. The 60-year-old man is linked to the Royal Garden Hotel cluster while the 49-year-old woman is linked to the Home Of Treasure cluster.

As at 9am today, 10 COVID-19 confirmed patient was discharged from hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 4.973 patients with confirmed or probable infection have been discharged.
At present, there are 623 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1,115 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 132 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in 18 public hospitals, among which 12 patients are in critical condition, four are in serious condition and the remaining 116 patients are in stable condition.

In addition, the Department of Health announced that starting from tomorrow, the Department will requisition the Rambler Garden Hotel in Tsing Yi as a waiting centre for test results, and provide accommodation for arrivals who cannot obtain test results on the same day.
