Chinese Vice President Han Zheng meets with Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena

6th December 2023 – (Beijing) Chinese Vice President Han Zheng held a meeting with Mexican Foreign Minister Alicia Barcena in Beijing on Wednesday. During the meeting, Han emphasized that China-Mexico relations have reached a high level of strategic cooperation, guided by the strategic direction set by the heads of state of both countries.

As 2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Mexico comprehensive strategic partnership, Han highlighted the importance of implementing the significant consensus reached by the two leaders. He emphasized the need to deepen political trust, support each other, enhance practical cooperation, and promote people-to-people exchanges.

Han expressed China’s willingness to welcome Mexico’s integration of its development strategy with China’s major concepts and initiatives, aiming to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

In response, Barcena expressed gratitude for China’s timely assistance during challenging times and praised the major concepts and initiatives proposed by the Chinese leadership. She reiterated Mexico’s commitment to implementing the important consensus reached between the two countries’ leaders. Barcena also emphasized the importance of deepening bilateral and multilateral coordination and cooperation to further strengthen the bilateral relationship.

During the meeting, Han also extended sympathies to Mexico over the recent hurricane disaster on its Pacific coast, assuring China’s support and assistance in the post-disaster reconstruction efforts.
