Chinese President Xi Jinping calls for enhanced efforts in building up China’s cultural strength

7th June 2023 – (Beijing) Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a congratulatory letter to the first Forum on Building up China’s Cultural Strength, which opened in Shenzhen on 9th June. In his letter, Xi called for enhanced efforts to shoulder a new cultural mission and provide strong cultural and intellectual strength to build a stronger nation and achieve national rejuvenation.

Xi expressed that the Communist Party of China (CPC) is working hard to secure new successes in developing socialist culture, and has made solid steps in turning China into a country with a strong socialist culture since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012. He called for more efforts to consolidate cultural confidence, remain open and inclusive, uphold fundamental principles and encourage the cultural innovation and creativity of the whole nation in order to achieve China’s cultural mission.

Xi emphasised the importance of promoting cultural prosperity, making China a leading country in culture, building a modern Chinese civilisation, and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilisations.

The forum was hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and was attended by high-ranking officials, including Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee.

Li Shulei called for efforts to study and implement Xi’s important instructions, while also urging the advancement of cultural prosperity and development and the promotion of exchanges and mutual learning.
