2nd April 2024 – (Beijing) According to Chinese state media, President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden recently engaged in a phone call, igniting hopes for a positive trajectory in U.S.-China relations. This significant development follows President Xi’s recent meeting with an American delegation, where he displayed a conciliatory tone.

The two leaders candidly and deeply exchanged views on China-U.S. relations and issues of mutual concern. Additionally, China expressed its welcome for the upcoming visits of U.S. Secretary of State Blinken and Treasury Secretary Yellen to China.

China’s state media has joined in a chorus, emphasising the pursuit of a “brighter future” in bilateral relations between the two global powers. The momentum of cooperation between Beijing and Washington has been steadily strengthening, not only at the government level but also within the respective societies. Such a deepening connection has become the “new normal,” as highlighted in a commentary published by the official Xinhua news agency on Sunday.
