Chinese Premier Li Qiang chairs State Council study session on improving government work

10th June 2023 – (Beijing) On Friday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang chaired a State Council study session to devise approaches for completing government work in an improved manner. During the session, Li emphasised the need for concrete efforts to implement the decisions and plans of the Party’s central authorities, and to achieve tangible results in due course.

According to Li, the overall high-quality development of the country should be prioritized when formulating and implementing policies. He also stressed the importance of improving work methods in light of actual situations and making solid progress in completing major tasks.

In the meeting, Li further stated that the government should take into account the changing dynamics of global economic and trade situations, and focus on deepening domestic reforms and opening-up, while adhering to the principle of pursuing shared benefits through consultation and collaboration.

Li urged officials to be proactive in their approach to work, emphasizing the importance of being practical, innovative, and efficient. He also emphasized the need to strengthen the government’s ability to handle risks and emergencies, while maintaining stability and security.

The Premier further emphasised the importance of promoting green development and ecological civilisation, and called for greater efforts to improve people’s livelihoods, especially in the areas of education, healthcare, employment, and social security.
