Chinese PLA Navy marks 75th anniversary with series of celebratory events

20th April 2024 – (Beijing) The Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy is set to commemorate its 75th founding anniversary with an array of public events from 20th to 24th April, announced Navy spokesperson Leng Guowei during a press briefing on Saturday.

The celebration will kick off with a national flag-raising ceremony and will feature martial music displays and themed light shows designed to highlight the naval force’s rich history and achievements. In an effort to foster greater public engagement and transparency, several navy barracks and vessels will open their doors to visitors throughout the anniversary period.

Adding a cultural dimension to the festivities, an exhibition showcasing artistic works dedicated to the PLA Navy will be available to the public until the end of April. These works aim to encapsulate the spirit and evolution of the navy over the past seven and a half decades.

Furthering its commitment to education and awareness, the PLA Navy will also launch an educational campaign aimed at enriching naval personnel’s understanding of their heritage and role in national defence.
