Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman says specific countermeasures will be inflicted against U.S. and “Taiwan independence” forces

Hua Chunying

3rd August 2022 – (Beijing) US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi ignored the opposition of mainland China to visit Taiwan. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying hosted a regular press conference on Wednesday (3rd), a reporter asked whether the Mainland would directly sanction Taiwan, or target Pelosi herself and other U.S. officials.

Hua Chunying said that specific countermeasures will be available and will be resolute, forceful and effective. Hua Chunying said that the United States and the “Taiwan independence” forces will continue to feel the effect of the countermeasures. Looking back at every provocation that the United States has initiated against Beijing, the results are all self-inflicted humiliation and self-rewarding. The latest example is Pelosi and other incitement in Hong Kong which advocated the so-called “beautiful landscape”, but they just accelerated Hong Kong’s transition from chaos to governance, from governance to prosperity, and made the Pearl of the Orient shine again, and this time was no exception.

Hua Chunying also pointed out that she noticed that many people all over the world may have spent a sleepless night on Tuesday (2nd) and were tracking Pelosi’s military plane. She successfully attracted global onlookers, but the Chinese side has expressed its solemn position with actions and statements. It also allows everyone to see once again that the individual US politician put on personal show for her own selfish interests, while disregarding regional peace and stability, and disregarding the overall situation of China-U.S relations. She also pointed out that as for what specific measures Beijing will take, the Mainland has firm determination and will to safeguard the security of the motherland, sovereign security, and territorial integrity.

When asked whether the Mainland customs said on the same day that it would temporarily cancel the importation of Taiwanese products due to health concerns, and whether it would impose sanctions on Taiwan, Hua Chunying pointed out that these very specific questions should be directed to the relevant competent authorities.

However, she emphasised that the U.S and the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces must take responsibility and pay the price for their mistakes.
