12th June 2024 – (Beijing)During a recent press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed the incident involving the injury of foreign teachers from the United States in China. Lin emphasised that this was an isolated incident and assured that it would not disrupt the normal people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States, which are highly valued by both nations.

The incident took place in Beihua University, located in Jilin city, in the northeastern province of Jilin. Four foreign teachers were attacked while visiting Beishan Park on the morning of 10th June. Immediate medical attention was provided, and all injured individuals were promptly taken to the hospital. Fortunately, none of them are in critical condition.

According to Lin, preliminary assessments by the police indicate that this incident was isolated. The authorities are currently conducting further investigations to gather more information and establish a clearer understanding of the situation.

Highlighting the importance of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and the United States, Lin emphasized that such interactions serve the interests of both nations and receive widespread support and appreciation from people from all walks of life in both countries.
