30th November 2023 – (Beijing) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, is set to visit Vietnam on the 1st and 2nd of December. The announcement, made by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday, comes in response to an invitation extended by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang.
The purpose of Wang’s visit is to participate in the 15th Meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation. This forum represents a significant platform for the two neighbouring nations to discuss and enhance their mutual cooperation.
As a seasoned diplomat and a key member of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Yi’s presence at the bilateral meeting underlines the importance that China places on its relationship with Vietnam. His visit is expected to further cement the diplomatic relations between the two nations, which have often been characterised by both cooperation and contention.
