12th February 2024 – (Enshi) On the first day of the Lunar New Year (10th), a man in Enshi, Hubei, resorted to violence against his 18-year-old son when the latter refused to pay a New Year’s visit to his stepmother. The altercation escalated to the point where the father physically assaulted his own flesh and blood, causing severe injuries. Today (11th), local authorities confirmed that the man had been criticized and educated, and both parties have reached a resolution.

According to reports from local media, the perpetrator of the violence is a teacher in the area. Four years ago, he divorced his wife, and his son has been living with him ever since. Subsequently, he remarried, and his current wife bought him a private car, after which the man became extremely compliant.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year this year, the 18-year-old son, now legally an adult, declined to accompany his father to visit his stepmother’s family, choosing instead to go alone to his biological mother’s house. Upon learning of his son’s decision, the father flew into a rage and went to his ex-wife’s home, where he viciously attacked his son, causing him to sustain severe head injuries. The injured son was promptly rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.

Video footage from the scene captured the ex-wife berating her former husband, exclaiming, “You’ve beaten my son to this extent, all for the sake of a woman!” Local authorities were alerted to the incident and promptly arrived at the scene to take the man into custody.

However, the ex-wife, a woman, expressed her reluctance to press charges, citing the man’s occupation as a primary school teacher. In order to avoid leaving a criminal record, she reluctantly forgave him. On the 11th, the local police station responded by stating that both parties had reached a resolution, and the father of the child had been subjected to criticism and education.
