Chinese and Thai military leaders meet to discuss regional security

10th June 2023 – (Beijing) Chinese State Councilor and Minister of National Defence Li Shangfu held talks with Narongphan Jitkaewtae, commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army, on Saturday in Beijing. During the meeting, Li expressed China’s commitment to working with Thailand to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, and to further strengthen cooperation between the two militaries, especially between the two armies.

Against the backdrop of the Asia-Pacific facing several security challenges, Li emphasized the need for China and Thailand to jointly maintain regional stability and ensure lasting security in the region. He also reiterated China’s willingness to work closely with Thailand to achieve these objectives.

Narongphan expressed his appreciation for China’s important role in maintaining regional peace and security, and pledged to work together to deepen the relationship between the two countries and their respective militaries.
