Chinese and Mexican Foreign Ministers meet in Beijing to strengthen bilateral relations

6th December 2023 – (Beijing) Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a meeting with his Mexican counterpart, Alicia Barcena, in Beijing on Tuesday.

Wang, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, remarked that the recent summit between the leaders of the two nations in San Francisco, USA, has offered crucial strategic direction for the advancement of bilateral relations and has outlined a plan for future cooperation.

Wang expressed China’s willingness to perceive and foster relations with Mexico from a strategic and enduring viewpoint. He emphasised that China is prepared to collaborate with Mexico to maintain mutual respect and equal treatment, with the aim of elevating their bilateral relations to new heights.

For her part, Barcena stated that Mexico highly values its relationship with China. She affirmed Mexico’s readiness to work with China to put into action the significant consensus reached by the two heads of state, thereby facilitating the further development of bilateral ties.
