27th May 2023 – (Beijing) Representatives from China’s central departments and local governments recently gathered in Beijing to discuss ways to improve the efficiency of news releases. The 3rd China Spokesperson Forum, sponsored by the State Council Information Office and Tsinghua University, brought together more than 100 spokespersons, experts, scholars, and representatives of news organisations.
The forum’s theme was centred on improving the efficiency of news releases and serving the overall work of the Party and the country. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012, localities and departments across the country have frequently issued press releases, creating a favourable public opinion environment for the development of the Party and the nation.
During the forum, participants emphasised the importance of keeping the correct political orientation, delivering good results, and making precise expressions in news releases. Doing so would allow the voice of the Party and government to reach every household and make China’s voice heard clearly in the world.
The forum also called for strengthened training to promote the high-quality development of press releases. With the ever-evolving media landscape, spokespersons need to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and communication strategies to effectively communicate the Party’s message to the public.
The attendees also exchanged ideas and experiences on how to improve the efficiency of news releases, including ways to streamline communication channels and enhance the dissemination of information. They also discussed ways to better addresspublic concerns and questions through prompt and accurate responses.
Several keynote speakers shared their insights on the importance of efficient news releases. Chen Xiaohong, the deputy director of the State Council Information Office, stressed the significance of enhancing the Party’s voice in the media and connecting with the public. He also emphasized the need for spokespersons to stay true to the Party’s values and principles in their communications.
Zhang Xiaoming, the executive vice president of Tsinghua University, highlighted the importance of innovation and creativity in news releases. He called for the exploration of new communication methods and technologies to better engage with the public and promote the Party’s message.
The forum also recognised the contributions and achievements of spokespersons in improving the efficiency of news releases. It commended outstanding spokespersons and teams for their excellent work in communicating Party policies and ensuring accurate and timely information dissemination.
