26th September 2023 – (Beijing) The Chinese Commerce Ministry issued a statement on Tuesday, firmly opposing the United States’ decision to include certain Chinese companies and individuals in Iran-related sanctions. China urged the U.S. to cease the “unreasonable suppression” without delay.

The U.S. sanctions, announced last week, targeted several Chinese entities and individuals, as well as those from Iran, Russia, and Türkiye, alleging their involvement in the development of Iran’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and military aircraft.

In response, the Chinese Commerce Ministry criticised the U.S. action, labelling it as an abuse of unilateral sanctions and a practice of “long-arm jurisdiction.” China argued that such measures undermine the international trade order and rules, obstruct normal international economic and trade exchanges, and infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies and individuals.

In a statement, the ministry emphasised, “The U.S. side should immediately halt its unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies and individuals. China will take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.”
