2nd June 2023 – (Hong Kong) China offers opportunities to other nations and doesn’t pose any risks to them, according to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning. Her comments came after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that theĀ United StatesĀ and the European Union are focused on “de-risking” their relations with China, rather than decoupling.
Mao dismissed Blinken’s remarks, stating that China is committed to advancing high-level opening-up and providing a market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment for companies from all countries. She emphasized that China pursues trade, sci-tech, and investment cooperation with all countries based on mutual respect and mutual benefit, and upholds international equity and justice.
Mao also warned that the real risks faced by the world are practices such as stokingĀ bloc confrontation, interfering in other countries’ internal affairs, and causing regional turmoil and chaos. Risks also lie in politicising trade and sci-tech issues, destabilising global industrial and supply chains, and shifting domestic economic andĀ financial risksĀ overseas.
