China Manned Space delegation celebrates aerospace achievements in Hong Kong variety show


29th November 2023 – (Hong Kong) The China Manned Space delegation took part in a captivating variety show in Hong Kong to commemorate their visit and to share the nation’s remarkable achievements in aerospace endeavours. The event, held on the afternoon of 29th November, featured prominent figures such as Chief Executive Mr. John Lee, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Mr. Zheng Yanxiong, delegation leader Mr. Lin Xiqiang, and esteemed astronauts Mr. Liu Boming, Ms. Wang Yaping, Mr. Chen Dong, and Mr. Zhang Lu. Also in attendance were Chief Secretary for Administration Mr. Chan Kwok-ki and Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Miss Alice Mak.

The Hong Kong Coliseum set the stage for the variety show, which included screenings of documentaries showcasing the development and remarkable achievements of the China Manned Space Program over the past three decades. During the engaging chit-chat session, delegation leader Mr. Lin provided insights into the program’s progress, while the four astronauts shared their experiences and the awe-inspiring sensation of living in space. Additionally, research and development personnel from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University shed light on the advancements in Hong Kong’s aerospace industry.

While local artists and talented youngsters delivered stunning performances, the variety show also highlighted the exceptional piano skills of young prodigy Zhang Shengliang. Moreover, Hong Kong athletes showcased their skill and agility in a captivating breaking performance.

Tomorrow, on 30th November, the delegation will participate in the opening ceremony of the China Manned Space Exhibition. They will also engage with representatives from Hong Kong’s innovation and technology sector, as well as teachers and students from tertiary schools, fostering connections and knowledge exchange.
