5th August 2022 – (Beijing) A Chinese foreign ministry spokesman announced on Friday (5th) that it had imposed sanctions on U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her immediate family. The spokesperson said that Pelosi insisted on going to Taiwan in disregard of China’s serious concerns and firm opposition, seriously interfering in China’s internal affairs, seriously undermining China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, seriously trampling on the one-China principle, and severely threatening the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait. In response to Pelosi’s vicious and provocative actions, China has decided to impose sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on Thursday called U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan a “malicious provocation.”

During an interview with RIA Novosti, Medvedev noted that the United States used ambiguous rhetoric, claiming adherence to the one-China policy, while its actions have shown other motives.
